Elizabeth Hoffman’s practice includes family matters, civil litigation, criminal defense, and unemployment issues. Her cases include divorce, parental rights and responsibilities, separation of unmarried parties, protection from abuse and harassment, eviction, consumer rights, assault, driving offenses, and unemployment taxation and compensation.
She is admitted to the bars of Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine. Ms. Hoffman has also has been a continuing legal education presenter regarding legal ethics.
Prior to joining the Law Office of Richard S. Berne, Ms. Hoffman worked at a firm in South Paris, Maine, where her practice included family law, criminal defense, and a variety of civil litigation matters. She has also worked as an unemployment hearings representative for a national unemployment compensation defense firm, as well as an legal intern for the Maine Unemployment Insurance Commission.
Ms. Hoffman is a graduate of Trinity College, where she served aide to a member of the Scottish Parliament, and the University of Maine School of Law. While in law school, she was a member of the Moot Court Board and a student attorney in the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. Ms. Hoffman is a member of the University of Maine School of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors.
